Lipton Tea is a British brand of tea, popular Lipton teas are Earl Grey tea, Lemon tea and English Breakfast tea.
Lipton was named after the founder Thomas Lipton of Glasgow, Scotland.
Thomas opened a small shop with his life savings in 1871, by the 1880s he had grown the business to over 200 shops.
Thomas would travel the world looking for new items for his stores, one item was tea, considered a luxury at the time
By 1890 Lipton had purchased tea gardens in Sri Lanka, and arranged the packaging and shipping of tea in packets to the world using the slogan: "Direct from the tea gardens to the teapot."
